About Us

A Personal Journey of Restoration and Reconnection

This all began as a dream — just the two of us, Mariette and Vincent, imagining a piece of land in South Africa where we could live in deep connection with nature. We didn’t know how, but we knew why: To give something back to the earth, to the animals, and to future generations. We wanted to restore what had been damaged and to create a space where people and wildlife could thrive — together.

The land we found was once a cattle ranch, denuded of indigenous vegetation and overtaken by invasive alien species. For the past nine years, we’ve worked to bring it back to life — gradually removing what doesn’t belong, planting what does, and slowly watching the return of birds, such as our resident African Fish Eagles, and our thriving Knynsa Loerie population. Wild bees, Cape honeybees and native plants.

It’s been a labor of love, and a profoundly meaningful experience.

Today, the Well-Being Sanctuary is establishing a crucial
wildlife corridor and is at the heart of a future conservation servitude. We’ve protected over 2km of lakefront where wild creatures now roam freely. We’ve created a sanctuary for both wild bees and Cape honeybees, begun reforestation, and launched projects that are in harmony with the land.

We also host retreats and festivals — gatherings that build community, celebrate the earth, connection, and conscious living. It’s about coming home, not just to nature, but to
ourselves.

We’re inviting partners to walk this path with us — To join us on our journey towards a whole, healed, and harmonized community and planet.
